Perspectives

One of the interesting aspects of photography is the many perspectives you get by taking the same photo from different angles, whether it be more to the left or right, or up and and down. I am fascinated by many compositions, I love seeing lines in a road or pathway. They often get me in trouble as I like to pull off on the side of the road and get down and dirty to get “the shot”.

This photo was taken by my good friend Robbie Duke who is also a photographer in Houston, TX. In this scene, Robbie and I were in the deep country roads near Fraser, Colorado capturing the fall colors. We were there at the most perfect time with everything shining in a variety of yellows, oranges, greens and brown. We were on a gravel road that was surrounded by aspens that made a tunnel of color.

I wanted to get as low as realistically (or my older body would allow) to capture the details of the stones just a few feet from my lens as well as details miles down the road. For this, I needed to down, way down. The photo I captured was a compilation of 5 photos taken at different focal points from closest to me to furthest away. I then stacked them together to get a remarkably well focused scene from a foot in front me all the way to a couple of miles where the road met the mountains.

I love getting dirty.
